Affiliate Marketing Explained In A Nut Shell

I am about to share something with you that is incredibly revolutionary. Are you ready? I sure hope so.

Here goes.

There is a system that grew out of the age of the internet, also known as the information age, that allows anyone with access to a personal computer and the internet to make thousands of dollars online. This system isn’t a get-rich-quick scheme, but with the right amount of effort it can literally set an individual up to thrive, even in this current economy. This system allows you to avoid all the typical small business expenses like overhead and staff and can be started without spending thousands of dollars. This system is known as Affiliate Marketing.

When Al Gore started the internet way back in the day [insert light-hearted chuckle here;-) ], a new way to sell and market products emerged. No longer did individuals who had something to sell need a storefront to sell from. No longer did this individual have to go door-to-door, hoping that the people he/she was approaching were interested in the product or service being offered. With the creation of the internet brought a brand new world to the tips of individual’s fingers who had products and services to offer the world. A world who still buys. A world that is ready for someone to connect them with the product or service they desperately need, online.

Today, just over 1,966,514,816 people use the internet world-wide. That is almost 2 billion people searching the internet every single day. Today, these people can do everything on the internet. They can watch their favorite TV show they might have missed the night before, they can maintain their checking accounts, they can play games, and they can even search for and buy products they are interested in. People are doing and experiencing more today on the internet than they have ever before.

With the growing number of internet users evolved a new type of product that could be sold to these online users. This product is known as the Digital Product. You know exactly what I’m talking about. A perfect example of a company selling digital products is Apple. Steve Jobs and his team have revolutionized how we buy music now. The Compact Disc has become a thing of the past. We can now download our favorite music straight to our computers and transfer hundreds of songs to a playback device that is smaller than a business card. Websites like Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble and even Apple now offer Digital Books that can be purchased and downloaded to read on hand-held electronic devices.

Affiliate Marketing was developed as a a way to harness the power of people and the power of internet when selling digital products. For instance, if I developed a digital product that teaches people how to have a better relationship with their spouse and I had a desire to sell this product online, I could probably do pretty well selling and marketing the product on my own. But what if I had 100 additional people selling the product alongside me, people who knew marketing and selling techniques, people with connections I didn’t. What would that do for my product? It would cause more to sell! That is exactly what Affiliate Marketing is all about. It is people selling the products created by other people in order to make a commission on each sale. More specifically, it is individuals marketing digital information online to people searching the internet for this same information and selling these digital informational products to the people searching for them.
